A Little Bite of History
The all-American dish of fried chicken didn't originate here. Battered fried food was popular in Europe during the Middle Ages and brought to America by Scottish immigrants in the 17th century. Southern African-Americans added pepper and other seasonings to give the chicken the delicious flavor it's known for today.
